Rekkles posing with the Summoner's Cup of the League of Legends World Championship after T1 won Worlds

Rekkles Leaves T1, Will Play in EU in 2025

The legendary ADC turned support will return home after (technically) winning Worlds.

Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, former Fnatic and G2 Esports ADC has announced that he will return to Europe after spending the 2024 competitive season in South Korea as the Support for T1’s Academy team. In the X (formerly Twitter) post explaining his decision he told fans that he needs to return home and be close to his family, and thankfully, an opportunity came up where he could play from Sweden.

The star player has also mentioned how he struggled after leaving Fnatic in 2020 and how Jeong “Becker” Hoi-yoon, T1’s general manager’s offer has been a huge help, altough it didn’t fix all his problems. This is why he is returning to Sweden, which is all part of his plan that let’s him play as long as he wants to.

Rekkles joined T1 before the start of the 2024 season after spending the second half of the 2023 LEC split on the bench of Fnatic. While he didn’t play for his old team after roleswapping to support, he was the starter for T1’s academy team, where he finished 4th in the LCK CL 2024 Summer Playoffs. While he sticked to ADC-supports for a while – and even swapped roles with his lane partner, Sin “Smash” Geum-jae for some matches – he proved to be adept on that role too.

Fans have already started speculating about Rekkles’ new team. Most would like to see him join Marc “Caedrel” Lamont’s Los Ratones team, stating that the player has been closed to the caster-turned-costreamer behind the scenes. Others point at some wealthy ERL teams like Eintracht Spandau of the German Prime League. One thing is for sure though: Rekkles will likely play in a EMEA Regional League that is not the French LFL or the Spanish LVP SuperLiga, as those are the ones that have LAN seasons. All the other ERL’s – such as the Nordic and British NLC – are all held online, with maybe their finals in person.

Rekkles is an incredibly decorated professional League of Legends player. With Fnatic, he won the EU LCS 4 times, and he was also a regular in the Finals. He also appeared in 6 World Championships, inculding the one in 2019 where he and his teammates made it into the last match – but were no match for China’s Invictus Gaming. Him coming back to EMEA would be a huge boost to any team that would sign him, as well as the region as a whole, as he could appear in the LEC as a guest.
