The long awaited sequel is finally getting some details.
I won’t lie, I hate a lot of the sports games out there. They generally do little to get me interested, and I quickly find that bugs in the game disappoint me immediately, so I set them aside. The exception to this, however, has always been in EA’s over-the-top snowboarding game; it was one of the first Playstation 2 games that really got my attention before the launch, and since then I’ve made sure to grab a copy of each new title as it hit the market.
Sadly though, the market seemed to dry up as the SSX slopes melted off their snow pack, and the characters I so enjoyed playing eventually got shelved after the hundredth time I completed SSX 3; more than once, I asked why a PS3 version of the title never seemed to be around the horizon. Well, thanks to EA’s latest announcement, it seems that our wait for new info is over!
After having seen the E3 videos, I can honestly say that the new Defy Gravity trailer still blew me away; if the game looks half as good as what was shown, and I’m sure it will look great, it promises a wonderful time for those of us who are better snowboarders with a controller than we are with one strapped to our feet. It’s fantastic to see that the developers stuck with the original premise as well: SSX has always been a little unrealistic, and that was part of the fun. I, for one, can’t wait for January to start a jump and trick combo that utilizes a helicopter, for instance, after seeing it in multiple trailers.
The latest SSX title is currently set for a January 2012 release for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Who else is ready for the slopes!?
